Rebranding
As beauty brands grow, they try to find ways to be more engaging and informative to their customers and modernize their look. At the time Boscia’s icon was an outdated green gradient leaf but decided to go the contemporary route and simplify it to black leaf that was gracious, recognizable, but not too detailed. The same was done for their logo typography, to improve it we maintained the same text treatment but chose a san-serif typeface to convey modern beauty.
“Modern Beauty” was also the concept for the new image direction. Previously Boscia used very bring images with stark reflective highlights on the products and primarily white backgrounds. We wanted to create an image direction that could be use for campaigns, social and product pages. We produced a variety of example images full of textures, ingredients, varying light treatments, and color.
I always find it’s better to portray information in the form imagery to be more engaging and simplify content for customer so its easier understand, especially for retail brands where customers are usually scrolling through the site quickly instead of taking the time to quickly read everything. Being a brand based on Japanese skincare philosophy, it was important for them to talk about ingredients in their brand and product story. We created icons for each key ingredient to make them easily identifiable on products, product pages, imagery and ingredients story page on their website.
Along with changing Boscia’s logo, we also took the opportunity to update their brand fonts and color which lead to the redesign of their products to a more modern look. The color of the product packaging is determined by the key ingredients used,
Previously the brand used only one image on the product pages of the product on while background but we suggested to also include images with texture, campaign style, and symbolic context of the product.
Exfoliating Peel Gel
Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer
We also help Boscia design the packaging for their two new kits using a similar style as the ingredient icons and textural, contemporary campaign images.
Brand Book
When we completed the rebranding of Boscia, we provided them with a stylized, printed brand book with not only all the new images, icons, color and logo treatments but also showing them how to present their brand statements, slogans and philosophy.
